i posted a few weeks ago about how my lower back gets real sore when my bowels act up. well this week its been a different type of back pain, when my bowels act up i get horrible pain right on my spine (lower) to the touch, i mean if you touch it with your finger lightly it kills. the first time it happened i thought i pulled somthing. well then the next day my bowels were better and so was my spine. then today my bowels acted up and the pain came back. its hard to sit or stand the only way i can stand it is lots of pain pills, water bottles and lots of baths. does anyone experince this or have any suggestions, thanks

Hi K

This sounds just awful. I hope you get some helpful responses soon. Meanwhile, just do whatever you think may most help to keep those bowels going smoothly. For me that is mostly diet, but now that I am c, some milk of magnesia and occasionally a mini enema help too.

better.

My back often feels like the way you described yours. I could probably live with the constant D but this back pain is unbearable. Is your pain down real low? Mine is right at my tailbone. heating pad helps some but cant have one on all day, what do you do for yours?
Hang in there

hi green eyes, yes mine is there alot all the way across and then sometimes on my spine. i use cold packs for 20 minutes and then hot water bottle after, the chiropractor said thats best. it helps some pain killers don't help much unless its like darvocet. a extremely hot bath works better for pain but you can't stay in all day, especially when you have 3 small kids! i haven't had pain for few days and hope i don't again though i know thats wistful thinking with my colitis if thats whats causing it, i hope you feel better too. hugs

Hi Kristilyn. My worst pain from IBS is in my lower back. Mine is tailbone and spine so I asked my GI and he just said that unfortunately that is a symptom of IBS for some. It made me feel better as I thought I had something else going wrong!
