I'm back!
I have been off the board for a few months. Frankly, though I loved the support, and all the people are so great and helpful, I felt I needed to stop for a while, and try not to focus and dwell on my IBS.
Now, I feel the need to return.
Situation:
I find that after a BM (I'm a d, but it's under control right now) I still have what I will call discharge or leakage. Does this happen to anyone else? And even later I can smell it. I'm sure my students must be able to as well. I've taken to wearing two pair of underpants.
Any suggestions? I'm thinking I need to take a change of clothes to work.

Hi Stage!

Yes, I also suffer from this "leakage" problem for several hours after every BM - the solution I have found is to use one of the newest, very thin self-adhesive sanitary pads which have a "dry-weave" top layer - they draw away any moisture from the skin and lock it away in a central core, thus preventing soreness. They really are so thin and unobtrusive that they can be worn under the tightest of clothing without showing, and are amazingly absorbent.

I'm afraid I don't know of any brand names for these in the US (I'm from the UK), but I'm sure there must be several brands available over there.

Also hopefully to put your mind at rest - I also have always worried that I smell after a BM, but my husband assures me that nothing is ever noticeable, so I think it might be a psychological thing because we know what's happening in our undies!!

Hope this is of help to you

Julie
