HELLO ALL AND THANK YOU FOR RESPONDING TO MY
QUESTION ABOUT CALTRATE PLUS.

I WILL LIKE TO KNOW HOW MANY TIMES A DAY
PEOPLE HAVE "D". I STARTED BY HAVING ONLY
ONE VERY LOOSE BOWEL MOVEMENT TO TWO PER DAY.
MY MD SAID THAT HE DOESN'T CONSIDER THIS "D".
I DO NOT EXPERIENCE ANY PAIN BUT I GET THAT
RUMMBLING STOMACH NOICES. EVERY MORNING I
WAKE TO A SUDDEN URGENCY TO "D".

I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IF ANY OF YOU CAN
GIVE ME SOME LIGHT.

I bet you get a variety of answers to this one! Mine vary from 2 (good day) to 10 (really bad day-rare). Usually all in one part of the day, 20 min. or so apart. To me, it's the looseness, cramps and urgency that qualify it as diarrhea. Does your dr. have some magic formula for how many movements are necessary before it's considered D?

Sometimes the D only happens once or twice a week but its the cramps I can not take. I am always wondering when it may happen and when it does it kicks the s--- out of me. I feel like a truck has ran me over. When I feel good like now because I am taking Caltrate Plus I am a different person. I can only take one Caltrate a day because anything more gives me C.

I would say a minimum of 4 times a daily and often up to 15..Somewhat better since caltrate plus but still a rare day without any D

Since I started the Caltrate Plus, No D, knock on wood, unless I eat a trigger food. When I didn't have things under control, I would usually have 2-3 episodes within an hour first thing in the morning and that would be it. For a few month, everything was in a real uproar and I was having 15-20 episodes throughout the day.

To say a few trips to the bathroom doesn't constitute D is hogwash. As my GI has said, quantity doesn't matter when you are talking D. Anything unformed is usually clasified as D.

I can go a week w/o an episode then there are days that I go 10 times.. Usually until I am empty. There are certain foods or wine that really make me empty out.. So I stay away from them. (but sometimes I get stupid)
I think these poor drs. just don't know as much as they would like to so they wing it.. lol.. what a joke..
Doesn't it appear that if we had to pick a time of day that is worse it is the morn? I have heard that mentioned and that is how I am. I never make an appt for something in the early morn for just that reason. Ever try to get your jean zipper down fast with wet nails??? Keep asking and keep laughing!! It's our only survival.. Good Luck!! Pam

I would like to know how all you people with D can go 10 times a day and not get depleted??? How do you function?? Do you still keep eatin normally? doesn't it affect your appetite having the cramps etc? I ask because this is what happened to me and really fast a year ago and I am jsut now getting myself back to some semblance of normalcy on this Bentyl. It does work wonders for me so far
