Well I was reading an article tonight and it was on thyroid conditions. It had a little self test to run your fingers over your thyroid. And well mine felt just huge. Then I started reading the symptoms, tierdness, I'm ALWAYS tierd. From morning till night. It said it can be common after pregnancy, and I just had my first in May of 98. It runs in my family also which also has me worried.

But what got me the most is that it also said that diahrrea can be a symptom. Now I'm guessing that I'd love to take care of my IBS with a pill for my thyroid, but wouldn't it be a kicker if that was what it was. I'm going to the doctor on Saturday so hopefully I'll find out then. It's got me a little scared, to say the least. Thanks for listening.

Hi Jen! I'm glad you're going to the doctor to have the thyroid checked. But I wouldn't be too worried about the large thyroid. I have a 'goiter' or enlarged thyroid and have had it for years. My thyroid tests always come back negative. Wouldn't it be wonderful if they could detect a problem and treat it with medication and cure your IBS? I'd gladly take thyroid medication if it was a cure-all! Good luck! Karen R

my mum has an underactive thyroid, she used to be really ill, but now she just pops a couple of pills each morning ans is hunky-dory! So don't worry, it isn't a really scary thing.

I hope in a way it is, and then you will be all better. I wondered about that for me before cos I think it is hereditary? But I have a lot of c too, so maybe not?
