Last weekend I was brave and decided to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary. Last year I was too ill to go through with it. It went very well. I ordered all the food and with a little help from my friends, who were gracious enough to help me as my family is from out of town, I set it all up at my house. We had it outside and I decorated it all tropical and wore a moo-moo and a flower in my hair. We just had to get a new car so will not be going to Hawaii anytime soon, so I brought Hawaii to me. It went great. My feet and abdomen hurt from being on my feet too long, but I didn't have any stooling problems-except until around midnight that evening for one hour. I was afraid it was food poisoning and hoped no one else got it, which they didn't- thank God. I was very careful to put the cold meat and seafood salad on ice. I think my problem was do to some old soup I had made and found in the frig the day before. I had just taken some out of the freezer the day before that, and thought that it was the jar. Later I found the other jar still frozen and realized that the one I ate was probably two weeks old! It smelled and tasted delicious and was extremely cold as it was stored near the icebox. Alas, I guess that it didn't matter. I was the only one who ate it. Needless to say, I quickly dumped the rest after this happened.

Does anyone have knowledge/experience with food poisoning and how long it takes? My body obviously was purging itself with cramping, vomiting, and definitely diarrhea, (not my usual soft painful stooling kind), and it only lasted for 1hr instead of 2-6hrs like I used to get with proctalgia/Candida related symptoms. I was naughty though, and ate a piece of cheesecake, a piece of pie, and drank a glass of punch. I am still on the antifungal since my last episode with OD of sugars at the end of the hot July though, and have not gotten the proctalgia back. Everyone said I looked better than I did last year and seemed to be putting the weight back. I ate a whole pita sandwhich too. Last year I would have been lucky to have finished 1/2 and would not have been able to fit anything else in. Well, today is actually our 26th Anniversary and I love him today more than yesterday for being so patient and sticking with me through all of this. So you see, there is hope!

I'm so happy for you! It's about time you had a good time and you certainly deserve it. Sounds like you have a husband like mine, he never complains about my problems. You ate alot of food that night and it might have accounted for a bit of your D but at least it didn't last too long. So happy you had a good day!

Moldie: Congratulations! 25 years!! We just celebrated our tenth wedding anniversary! That's just wonderful. I'm glad you had a good time. Anytime there's a party or gathering, I know I'll be tied in knots and eat foods I probably shouldn't. Maybe it was just a combination of food and excitement? Hope you're feeling better today. Moldie - I'm glad you had such a great time! Sounds like a wonderful party and I like the idea of bringing Hawaii to you. It's possible you had food poisioning, but unless you continue to have problems like that night you'll probably never know if it was that or just the IBS reacting to the food!

Wow that is great! Happy Anniversary! Well I think that you would definately know it was food poisioning because you would probably be puking and have diarreah for 12 hrs. Dry heaving until you gag, that sort of thing. So most likely you just over did it.

congratulations moldie!

I'm so happy that you had a good time too!

The ill feeling at the end was probably just those naughty foods causeing havoc! If everyone else is fine, I'm sure it wasn't poisoning.

Wow 25 years that's really really cool! I've been with my man for 3 years - so quite a way to go yet!!!

Thanks for all your kind wishes. I liked the card sentiments at BlueMountain Joyce. Thanks. Happy 10th to you karenr. It is not like me to have vomiting and diarrhea unless I have a virus or suspected food poisoning. It does usually last longer in both cases though. Oh well I was lucky it only lasted 1hr. I've been feeling pretty good since, except some bloating, but I've been eating up the left-overs. I think it's too much fruit and dairy and possibly a little citric acid. They make me bloat up and cause gas. I'm cutting down on that fruit etc. tomorrow- really I am.
