This may sound silly, but i heard that popcorn is bad for people with ibs. Is this true? Please e-mail me if you have the answer. Thank you.

Well, I don't know if this is true for everyone but it does seem to give me grief. I guess it's too rough.

Cohn: Popcorn is a definite "no-no" for me. I LOVE popcorn and did eat a little Friday at the movie theater - and I paid for it later. Painfully! There are a few other "no-nos" for me too; cole slaw, egg rolls (cabbage again), too much caffeine or chocolate... Just my .02 worth. Karen

Lauren, I have discovered through 6 years of research, I can't eat popcorn without spending an eternity in the bathroom afterwards. I even tried to eat it a few weeks ago because I was having such good luck taking the Caltrate Plus. Nope, didn't work, still had major D.

It is basically trial and error for every person as far as what their "trigger foods" will be.

Popcorn gives me horrible gas and D. I usually get it anyway when I go to the movies and suffer the consequences - it just smells too good to resist!

Popcorn does bother me sometimes but I find it is mainly what I ate before or earlier that cases discomfort. I have had IBS for 7 years and Popcorn is NOT a bad thing for me.
THANK GOD. I am like Kitty I can't resist. I just love it.

Oh and Kitty. How about trying some Enzymes before eating popcorn at the movies???
It may help. Papaya or a combination kind is what I use.

I haven't had popcorn or any kernel items in years -- cuz besides the IBS I also have diverticulitis -- and anything with a seed is a no-no or me. I'd rather be safe than sorry. To me it's a small price to pay for not having to suffer.
