hello everybody
lots of new faces, welcome all new mambers

question, who if any has or had heart palpations? with ibs, also applies to the de-galled club,
reason i ask is that back in 97 i was having them for about 2 months, then they went away, now since 3 days ago they started again for what reason is any ones guess!it seems as though caffine sets them off, just my guess
so my doctor wants me to wear a heart monitor for 24 hours!today i was fine
thanks

Yes Charlie, I used to get heart palpitations often! My doctor discovered that I had a overactive thyroid gland which was why I had the irregular heartbeat. My heart, by the way, checked out fine. Interestingly enough thyroid problems can cause IBS too! Perhaps this is your problem - I'd certainly get this checked out. I have had IBS ever since... even though my throid is now okay. Of course, there could be other causes for this odd heartbeat - I hope you will seek medical advise until they discover what the cause is... good luck.

Charlie, I used to get them once in a great while, but they stopped when I gave up caffeine. Maybe that's what it's from?
Anxious might have something there with the thyroid...I get mine checked regularly because my mother has thyroid problems and that is one of the symptoms. So far my thyroid tests have come back negative but my mother didn't get it until she was in her 40's, I'm 34. Wouldn't hurt to ask.

Yup, me too. Had them most of my life and actually had a heart monitor for a month to see what they were. PVC's. I started taking magnesium and rarely have them anymore. I drink coffee, too!
Hope this helps.

I have had heart palpitations for as long as I have had the other problems. Wore a heart monitor and they said it was ventricular tacchycardia. It comes from stress and worry. It finally got so bad that I had to start taking a beta blocker. I have been on atenonol ever since to control it. They say it goes hand-in-hand with the ibs.

Sure do, but I was told it was from the mitral valve prolapse (fancy for heart murmur), but I find that stress is a trigger, too.

Yes, I ahve them too- had to wear halter moniter and htey found tachardia- sometimes goes up to 120 or so.... Then had echocardiagram and said I had mitral valve prolapse- I have symptoms of fatigue, dizziness etc but is pretty harmless- betablockers made fatigue worse. Taking florinef and salt loading now and fatigue is some better, but not IBS.

I get heart palpatations every so often.
Not on a daily basis though. I don't know if Caffine had anything to do with it , as I don't have coffee or pop. Maybe a cup of tea every so often , but that's about it.
My IBS seems to be a tiny bit better , but then the "D" shows up and my gut's roll.
