When I was first really sick with this I took Bentyl (dicyclomene) 4 times a day...I had some luck with it for stomach cramping but then I realized it was making me really more constipated than I already was and I quit taking it. Besides, if I took too much it made me feel really light headed. But then I found that if my side is REALLY cramping I take one or two before a meal and the cramping subsides. I don't take it everyday like I used to, just for occasional use.

Oh, My Dr. said that it is a very safe medication. I'm not sure what that means, but I took that to be a good thing. I don't think it will hurt you, but drink lots of water with it and if you beware of some light-headedness that may come with it.

( I used to take double doses and it felt like my hands weren't attached to my body.. but it subsides quickly)

Good Luck,

Jill

JIl, thanks for the advice..it looks like I might be developing a rash on my arms...very slight, but I don't want to mess around with it..I felt o.k. yesterday..hopefully I'm not alergic to it..just my luck...trying to find something that works, and your not afraid to take it..just a totaly frustrating thing..using this bb really helps with all of the support...

Hi monmon.

I have been using Dicyclomine for almost 2 years now, I still have epiodes but it has helped out tremendously, you might be aliitle sleepy at first and dry mouth in the beginning until your body gets use to it.You'll notice the most difference after you have been using it 2wks-1month, my Dr. told me it sometimes takes that long to have the medicine work consistently on your G-I movement. GOOD LUCK!!! PS about the rash they usually give you some info. with the medicine about side effects, if not ask the pharmacist. KAREN
