Just wanted to thank all of you for your replies and support. I will list some of my symptons, but it's a little embarrassing... first of all, I've just noticed the symptoms getting worse over the last six months. The worst problem is the unbelievable gas. I can look at food and get gas, it doesn't matter what it is! The next worst problem is the inability to completely empty my bowel. EVERY time I go to the bathroom, even just to urinate, it ends up in a strained bowel movement, but not enough to get excited about. I really don't suffer much from D. The constant rumbling of my stomach and bloating are no fun either. I have felt much more tired in the past few months also. I believe I will get Dr. Salt's book before I go to the gastro. so I will have some ammo. I've just started taking Beano everytime I eat anything and that has helped some with the gas. any remedies you may have for these symptoms, please let me know. Thanks again and I hope I didn't gross any of you out, but I guess you know what I'm talking about dmoss

dmoss - I just had my gallbladder out 2 weeks ago and one of my earlier symptoms was excessive gas and bloating. Something to think about - talk over the gallbladder aspect with your doctor. I've suffered for years with what I thought was IBS - but it turns out I've had cholecystitis (an inflamed, irritated and generally sick gallbladder) for years.

Gross us out? You haven't seen anything, yet, dear!! Your description was quite tame, trust me.

Kathy

dmoss: I think you're heading in the right direction with your idea to get Dr Salt's book and someone suggested the Caltrate. I have had success with Caltrate, but not a cure. Don't worry about grossing us out, it would take a whole lot to gross out us 'poopie heads!' Hope you find some relief soon and a good doctor who will listen! You have found friends here on this board! karenr

dmoss,
If you are worried about gross, go back 3 or 4 weeks on the board and find some of the posts then about gas. You will laugh so hard you will probably get rid of a lot of excess gas doing it. When I have to be in close company I will take about 4 charcoal capsules. I buy them in a big bottle at the health food store. They really help.

Just a shot, but I was having a terrible problem with gas-distention that no over the
counter could touch. I found out I had a
food allergy to citic acid. I've stayed away
from citrus and juices & sodas and such which
have this as a food additive. Also tomato
products.
Yeast and sugars were a problem too. Try to
stay away from white flour too, as it is hard to digest. Everybody is of course is different, so you just have to read and try
things if none of your doctors have the an-
swers, as long as you think they are safe.
I went to an allergy clinic that delt with
food allergies. Good Luck!

Phazyme works for me. When I first started using caltrate, i hard horrible gas.Actually it started years ago. A family trait i guess. The women in my family can beat the best of men at passing gas and belching. My gram could literally blow you away!!! LOL
Anyway phazyme is available over the counter and is a temporary relief and non addictive. At least it will prevent some what are sure to be embarrassing momments. BTW my ex thought I should have been a guy because I could beat him every time. Another thing try filtered or bottled water along with all the other suggestions and of course watch your diet. Definitely try to avoid carbonated drinks and coffee.
One more thing... stay away from an open flame you may hurt someone! LOL

Wow I have been trying to get rid of this for a while. It makes me crazy, I thought I have tried everything......no cure. But I haven't tried the calcium. I thought the calcium would make me more constipated? If anyone knows about that please tell me. I have been taking Fibercon which seems to HELP. Well good luck!!!! Your definately not alone.
