Hi Guys I'm new to this site but I want to ask "do many of you experience extreme pain when ovulating (girls) and afterhaving intercourse?"
Sorry to be so personal but I would really like to know.
Thanks.

Lisa Anne,

If you are having pain during ovulation time and sex, you may want to check out some information about endometreosis. The reason I say this is i have pelvic pain that no one can really diagnose and my Gyn thought maybe endometreosis... I don't have it (after testing) so I've gone back to my original diagnosis of IBS.

You may well have IBS symptoms, but you may want to check out gynecological reasons too.

yes, I have these problems, because i have Endometorisis. Talk to your GYN they will have to do a minor outpatient surgery to know for sure if you have it, but do it. If left untreated it will lead to infertility.

I have the same problems too, but all the OB/GYNs I've been too say I don't have Endometreosis. They said some women are just unlucky. I've found being on the pill helps the cramps and pain during my period IMMENSELY! As for the intercourse pain - LOTS of foreplay and I'm good to go!

thanks for the responses but I don't need to worry about being infertile as I had a hyster 2years ago but the pain has not subsided.I still ovulate and the IBS which I'm sure it is because I've had problems for 20 years gets worse when ovulating and I'm pretty much sick of the pain and find it very debilitating at times

Do you have any strange lookiing discharge? If you do then you could have a vaginal fistula which would mean that you have Crohn's disease. Also did your symptoms get worse after your hyster? The pain could be from scar tissue due to the surgery. Let me know more and I will see if I can help.

Dear Nicol thanks for advice. The scar tissue could also be due to the adhesions that I,ve had done 3 times in 7 years.Sometimes I think that I'm just meant to suffer the pain that I do and some days are worse than others. It would be nice to actually chat to someone on line about this but when I come on no-one else is.I live in Melbourne Australia. I posted something else the other night but I can't see it on the board.I don't have much of a discharge at all ,I think that is because I don't have a monthly cycle at all except for ovulating every 2 weeks which then makes the pain worse.

Oh yes, i do and i think it's caused by swelling or inflamation of the uterus or area if you know what i mean.Since i was diagnosed with ibs i noticed the pain whenever i have a flare up or im on my period.I take Magnesium for it, it seems to help.-Cadia

I also have pain when i'm ovulating .The doctor says it is from the IBS .Sometimes it gets so bad I can't walk or sit down.
I have had a scope done and I don't have endometriosis.

oh my god. finally. someone else with sex pain. am I not alone there too. let me tell you oh boy can I tell you. sex..what is that? it is vertually none existant in my life. which would be fine if I were single. But I am not. Been married for 5yrs now. And it hurts so badly. During sometimes. but mostly afterwards. it just throbs and I feel like a schoolgirl or something. I can not walk after. My hubby feels so badly and then at times he of course is frustrated. What i'd give to have normal "sex". now that you mentioned it I wonder if IBS is causing that. I've been wondering a lot latley. I have migraines too. Bad ones. thought my teeth were the cause. well I got the teeth out(all the top)(oh yes I said all..and I'm only 28 but it runs in the family. I was not supposed to last past 20)but the pain is still here. last night was the first time it hit instantly.usually the pain is gradual like a headache starts. nope not last night. it was bam. I almost went to the hospital. anyhow I could ramble forever. Hang in there.

Yes Lisa Anne, the scar tissue causes the adhesions and the more surgeries you have the more scar tissue therefore more adhesions. It is a vicious circle and the only reason to get the adhesions removed is if they are deforming your stomach, bladder or bowels. My bladder was all twisted when I was opened up, so they fixed it for me. I think that my bowel is stuck now. If you are on ICQ then we can chat anytime. Take Care

Lisa Anne, have you been checked for endometriosis? That is a very big possibility.

Hello.

I am 17. I was diagnosed with IBS over a year ago, but have had stomach problems most of my life. I got my period five years ago, and it always causes HELL. Ovulation does too. I saw a gyn about two months ago, and she prescribed ortho-cyclen birth control to help regulate my periods. Last year, when I was in constant horrific pain, I did not get my period for eight months. All of the doctors I saw thought I was pregnant (17 year old girl, vomiting, nausea, no period....), and they wouldnot believe that I am not sexually active. The gyn thinks I may have endometriosis. She may to a laparoscopy this summer before I go away to college. Hope your feeling better.
