I've had some questions about what my symptoms are so I decided to answer them here. And I haven't had the hidascan yet, so I don't know for sure if it is, indeed, gallbladder yet. However, here goes -

I have a lot of pain (sometimes achy, sometimes shooting - it varies) in my upper right quadrant - actually - it's sort of in the middle of the right quadrant and extends down a little into my abdomen. The intensity varies - gets much worse after eating something heavy (or, unfortunately, having a glass of wine ) but sometimes it goes away - well, not altogether - it just gets less intense. I only have nausea and D if I eat something I shouldn't - fatty junk - again (You know the yummy stuff). But the pain, at times, radiates down the right arm (even into the fingers!!!), and back and right leg and even into my head sometimes. I have a lot of indigestion and heartburn and am now experiencing reflux when I sleep.

I understand the 40's are the deadly gallbladder decade - and I'm 46 so I fit. I had the ultrasound and it did not show stones, only a distended gallbladder, which can indicate a seepage problem.

If you are interested in the testing procedures and more info than I've ever seen in one place (in plain English) on the gallbladder, go to the thread here entitled:

To Charlie and Pattee: Gallbladder

LindaB gives an incredible description of the tests involved and a lot more.

Charlie?? Can you add more? (As if!)

hi kate
yes i would like to add one more thing to this, a while back i had ask this question.
what "controls the color of stool"
drj explain what control it, and is right on his explaination, except he did not know what was going on with me, in a normal person the answer he gave is correct, but since i am not a normal person(don't answer that)at that time about a month ago i notice my stools were turning gray" i new at that time the answer from docj did not fit me, or did anybody know how bad my gallbladder was until two weeks ago!! although the pancreas plays a big part in the color of stool, a gallbladder that dont work has a effect on your color of your stool, your stool will change color it depends on what you eat,
but when i saw lite gray i knew something was wrong, now i am happy to say my color is back, to docj i know if you see this post your gonna love it ha ha ,i promise not to bring it up again docj hahaha those were the good old days huh docj
so i will leave you with that little tid bit,
thanks charlie
