Remicade (infliximab) is for people with refractory or steroid-dependent inflammatory bowel disease NOT IBS.

I currently have Crohn's and the doctor wants to start me on Remicade, I am scared and unsure of this new drug. I am 33 years old with two wonderful children and a very caring husband. If you have any information that you can give me on Remicade please e-mail me at thank you.

References to this have been made before, but I couldnít verify it. Iíve seen now the company is testing it against forms of arthritis.

That board has 7 pages of material. Do you which page it was on it? I canít seem to find the reference.

What Remicade does is that it stops or slows the production of a special cell that fights cancer. This is called the Tumour Necrosis Factor. There have been increased incidences of lymphoma in some IBD patients who have taken remicade. The bottom line is basically that if you are at a high risk for cancer then you should not be taking this drug. Alot of people just won't take this risk, period but if it is your last hope then you may find yourself with a hard decision to make.

Flux, I do not think that it was on this board that the person with IBS was taking remicade. I believe it was on Frank's board. In hindsight I am sure that they must have had IBD as well. Is this the question that you were asking?
