I think a lot of people on this BB are too easily offended. Just look at the rash of complaints about flux. How can one guy get so many people worked up. If you don't agree with him you should just ignore him. This ain't good for your IBS to get so upset. And you're not going to change his mind on any subject that he responds too. Just because he does not agree with you in a thread does not mean that other people feel the same way. I've been to these IBS boards for a year now and way too many people get mad at him and leave. Just ignore him and stick around.

I guess we all have the choice to stay or go.
But it would be nice if the situation didn't call for it to be that way.

Yes you are 100 % correct , we all have the option to stay or go. And no one should let someone else's behavior on the board ruin their usage of this board.

It is your choice to let Flux's non-inappropriate behavior get you down. This may sound somewhat inappropriate, and I'm sorry to offend, but I can see why you're sick if you let something as stupid as this get to you.

Joe, an earlier post indicates that flux is not an IBS sufferer. (See "Question for flux" - 9/18/98). I responded to a more recent post just a few minutes ago (see recent post "Flux, you are annoying" by Cadia). I just find it unsettling to have someone offer all these great theories when, in fact, they have no idea of the experience we all suffer. You know the old saying, walk a mile in my shoes ... well, I don't think flux has even walked one step. True, we have the choice of staying or going but I would hope that TRUE IBS sufferers will stick around because the moral support, to me, far outweighs theories from a non-IBS suffererer. It's unfortunate that true sufferers leave the board because of "combat" with flux. Apparently flux can handle the stress factor; non-IBS people usually can.

I also recall hearing Flux was a Non IBS'er.
But that was some time back though.
He may tick me off , but i'll be dipped if he'll chase me off from coming here.

Tricia,

I could say the same thing for both of my doctors. Neither one of them have IBS but I still go back to them for advice and medication. If flux gets his kicks out of coming to these boards then so be it. I don't know if he has IBS or not. If you ask him he will tell you to email him privately. I've heard from other people that he does have an ailment of some sort but he has never told me that personally. I hope everyone stays with these boards. People shouldn't get so angry at one guy who happens not to agree with a post of theirs. It is just not worth it to get so worked up.

Joe, if I came across as being angry and defensive, I apologize; that was not my intent. I'm just a little rattled and feel a bit violated. It almost seems like we're all standing in a room naked and someone's peering in. Strange analogy, but true.

I feel that we lose, many different perspectives when they get angry at flux. We do not hear different viewpoints. In reality their anger probably hasn't made them leave but instead they are like "why waste my time with this "

I for one can ignore flux's viewpoint, but then when someone replies to it and another than states that someone else is out of line I begin to feel like my comment or question was ignored. I have received email from people who read this board bu do not post and feel intimidated to post.

This is not a healthy situation for the board. So people want to write about a topic a little off the beaten path. Flux replies someone backs him up and the original posters are gone for months if not forever.

And Joe, I do not know how this post is coming across. But at this particular time, I am not angry at all.

I just don't want a board that members express only one type of viewpoint. I want to read them all no matter how bizzare.

Rose,

Well said! I don't think there were any angry replies in this thread but in the ones about homopathy, lactose intolerance, and chocolate there were several replies from people who were very angry at flux because he disagreed with them. If those people would just ignore his posts then maybe the thread would not get sidetracked in a whole other direction than the original poster had intended. I hope I have not offended anyone with this thread. That was not my intention. He makes me angry sometimes too but I have learned it doesn't do me any good to argue with him. No one is going to change his mind.

In my view of the postings , He does come across Too negatively and he belittles alot of things out there on the Market, Now indicating there's even Bug parts in it.
(except Rx's from a pharmacy). Why make these claims If you don't have 1st hand on sight proof in the matter ?
