I know this is a weird question but here goes. Does anyone have their stomach to growl
or like a gnawing feeling say an hour after they eat? Lately after I eat, my stomach will
growl(Gnawing feeling) shortly after I eat.
I definitely am not hungry. I drives me crazy! If you do what if anything can be done? Thanks so much for any advice!
Barb

My stomach does this too. People across the room can hear it. I don't know how to silence it. I also get the gnawing feeling too, and I don't know why.

Oh boy, when I hear those sounds, I know it means I should "head for the hills"(read:Bathroom!) very quickly--I am going to be massively ill!!! I gather that doesn't happen with everyone---- lucky, lucky you! I got that today--first time since last summer-- and had to take so much
Librax and Immodium that I had to go to bed.I have tried to do all the right things--taking Caltrate and Acidophilus, and was having more good days then bad--and for no apparent reason, this.
I believe it is IBS telling me it's never going to let me go---and that is a terrible realization.
It's Valentine's Day and I sure could use a hug!

Hi Flizzy,I know what you are talking about.I have had this same problem for a long time now. I have been to several drs. and they have tried several meds. You wrote when you were sitting in class and your stomach would growl even if you are not hungry. I had the same thing happen to me when I was in high school.I was taking a test and it happened I was not hungry, the whole class started laughing. It was horrible. When I go to church it happens there I sure wish I could figure out why this happens!!!!I have pains in my left side when this happens.I have spoke to my dr.about the growling she laughs and says everybodys stomach does it.If anybody has any advise please help us out.

I don't get the growling but I do get the gnawing feeling. Kind of feels like my stomach is stuck in the middle of a hunger pang. Does that make sense?

I have got an article about this weired growling stuff on the net as below.

-->The "rumble" or "growl" you sometimes hear from your stomach is a normal part of digestion. It originates in your stomach or upper part of the small intestine as muscles contract to "clean house" moving food and digestive juices down the digestive tract.

Although this muscle contraction happens whether or not food is present, rumbles are more common after you have gone several hours without eating. This may be why many people associate a "growling" stomach with hunger.

Rumbles may also occur when there is incomplete digestion of food, which can lead to excess gas in the intestine. This is called borborygmus, and can be due to incomplete digestion of carbohydrate-containing foods including milk or milk products (lactose intolerance), fruits, vegetables, legumes and high-fiber grains. Rarely, excessive abdominal noise may be a sign of other digestive diseases, especially when accompanied by bloating, pain, diarrhea or constipation.

Some people find stomach rumbling embarrassing. Some opt to eat small snacks periodically, thinking they must be hungry and to be sure that their stomach is never completely empty. If you chose to do this, be forewarned the extra calories may contribute to unwanted weight gain. There is no foolproof way to keep your stomach quiet.

----
It might help know what matters with our stomach but I wonder what EXACTLY we can do to get rid of it right now at this moment!!
For some people who have not terrible experience don't understand how we feel ashamed!!

I had very loud tummy rumbles for years - but now I have completely gotten rid of them!!!

What I did was eliminate all carbs for about a month - I noticed a huge difference by the third day. Then I slowly added back carbs one at a time to see which I could or couldn't tolerate.

Mainly I stay away from bread, rice, potatoes and corn.

I eat a lot of stir-fry and stews (mostly meat and low carb veggies)
I am in my third month of eating like this and no longer have rumbles or bloat. I also don't have any gas at all or any morning sickness.

I had tried previously to eliminate other things - like fat, sugar, wheat, etc. and eating low-carb has been the only thing that has helped. If this works for you, you should see results within the first week.

Good Luck
