I am new at this gastroenterologist scene. I went to one and he told me that there was nothing that could be done for this incredible "colonic swelling" except to go to an emergency room when it happens and have someone give you a pain shot. Is anyone else suffering something called "colonic swelling" and what are you doing for it? I would appreciate any response. Thanks.

Linda, ask your doctor just what the hell he is talking about. Sounds very strange to me since any anti-inflamitory will get rid of swelling. Good Luck

Exactly Linda, you should see a new doctor and get his opinion, and a third and a forth. As long as it takes, expecially when your health is concerned.

Speaking from experience, I know what pain meds can do to your colon. It seems to me that an injection of pain medication would just add insult to injury. Perhaps if your doctor would try to communicate a little better you could figure out a treatment that would give you some relief and some peace of mind. If your insurance plan will allow you to, by all means get a second opinion! If not, ask him what the heck he's talking about.
