Hey everyone.

I used to suffer from severe vomiting, but now I just have the nausea. It is caused mostly by being in a car (or any small space) without air flow and the odor of food. My diet right now is really limited because I vomit up most things or I get severe stomach cramps. I am 17 years old, and my parents and my brother cannot cook anything in the house that has an odor. On Christmas day they were forced to bar-b-que steaks because they couldn't sook the normal prime rib because of the intense smell. Anything from popcorn, to chicken, pork, beef, chili, or anything that has a strong smell cannot be cooked in our house because of the nausea. Does anyone else experience this? I hate to make them eat limited diets too, but I also hate vomiting.

Thanks
L

Linny, this doesn't strike me as regular IBS---I don't know that nausea at the smell of any food is a feature of this illness. Some of us have vomiting during spells of D but that is quite a different thing.
I think something else is at work here....
What do you say, other IBS'ers?

Linny, I think Janice is right. This sound like something else, my guess is food allergy and multiple allery to other environmental stuff. I have been reading a book on food allergies and alot of the symptoms of IBS is the same for food allergies/intolerance. I think if I was you I would see a as many doctors as possible, there might be something more serious, from what you have said in other post, you dont sound too well at all. Keep searching, I'm sure you will get the help you need.

Linny, I just remembered something. My brother was allergic to eggs. My mom could not cook eggs while he was in the house it would make him very, very sick. He always had to leave and wait till the air cleared. According to the book I'm reading, this is not an uncommon thing with food allergie. Just something for you to think about.
