I think this is a great idea. I'm so thrilled to meet other people in the same position. I'm 26 years old and have had IBS as long as I can remember. At least 15 years - probably longer. I don't know what this "C" or "D" thing is - anyone care to clarify? The only things I have tried medicinally are Immodium when it's really bad, Colpermin peppermint oil capusles which don't work and Diecetal which doesn't work. It's much worse the week before my period and lately it's gotten a lot worse. Oh yes, I just moved to Barbados from Canada in hopes of relieving my stress. Guess what - didn't work. Looking forward to getting to know you all ;-)

Welcome Carmen ! Type C is for constipation and type D is for diahrhea. If you are a D type, some of the folks here are having success with calcium citrate, check some of the previous post to see how much to take. By the way why did you leave our beautiful country? I'm from Canada too and I love it here.

Thanks for your response - now I understand the "C" and "D" thing. Is the calcium something you need a prescription for or can you get it over the counter? An opportunity came up for me to do a 2-year stint in Barbados and I couldn't pass it up (especially as I've heard the recent horror stories about the terrible snowfalls in Toronto these past few weeks).

You can buy the calcium over the counter. Many of the people here have been having luck with Caltrate Plus brand. You're supposed to take one with each meal. It's supposed to help a lot with the D and cramping. Good luck!! K
