Does anyone with IBS also have bad breath?? I have bad breath that comes and goes, it is not all of the time. Sometimes right after brushing my teeth there is no change in the odor. I have noticed on occasion that the odor resembles intestinal gas.( that is put nicely). There are days when I dont have any, but when it is there, I wont get within 3 feet of anyone!! Has this happened to anyone else with IBS? I am still learning about IBS so any info would be great. Thank you to all you who post here. I am finally not alone.

I occasionaly get pretty bad breath. It is horrible when I wake up in the morning! I usually just brush my teeth at least twice a day, and always carry gum or breath mints with me. Altoids work pretty nicely, because they are so strong! They do make some sort of breath pills that you actually swallow, but I've never tried those, so I don't know how well they work. I have noticed though, that whenever I take one of my peppermint pills, my breath is slightly minty, and fresh. If you have IBS-D, you should check them out! K

Oh Lord--I have this too---all the brushing in the world doesn't get rid of it. I'd have to say this was my fist sympton of IBS.
I have not found a remedy for this. I've taken the internal pills, mouthhwaSH, SPRAYS, Altoids, etc but everything is temporary. I work with a lot of people and I panic if they get in "my space". I want them far away too.
Please, if there is anyone out there with a solution, please advise. I almost think this is worse than the D!!!!

Hey, Marcie - that's the ONE and only symptom I have not yet discussed here because I, too, am embarrassed. I don't know about bad breath - but I get the WORST taste in my mouth lately. It, too, comes and goes. It's really nasty, though. I've thought about asking here if anybody else had it and now you've done it for me. Thank you, Marcie. I wasn't sure if it was associated with this thing or not - I've had IBS for 25 years and have only experienced this symptom the last 2 years or so, and not consistently. I find myself brushing my teeth four or five times a day and it doesn't really help. It doesn't seem to be tied to any particular food or monthly cycle. But it drives me batty! Thanks, Marcie. Nice to know I'm not the only one again. (This is GREAT)
