There is no test for "high or low bile". Bilirubin is a non-water soluble breakdown product of hemoglobin which is excreted by the liver. Blood tests for serum levels of bilirubin reflect bilirubin availablity, liver uptake and excretion. While serum bilirubin levels may rise in the setting of bile duct obstruction (and for a number of other reasons), it really has nothing to do with "how much bile" a person has. Nor does bile or stool color have anything to do with IBS.
