Just gotoff the phone with a guy who posted his experience with amalgam on the internet.
he had colitis and after removing all 14 amalgam fillings had immediate relief and end of sypmtoms. He personally know 3 others with IBD who had the same success. Is there anything to this?

I had all of my many mercury fillings replaced three or four years ago, but my current bout of IBS-D started about two years ago, so I don't think the fillings had anything to do with my gut. I wish it were that simple.

The bogus amalgam scares are all over the Internet. However, if you dig you find the truth. For example, try http://www.hcrc.org/contrib/acsh/booklets/dental.html#amalgam.

Flux,
Check out this web posting http://www.isl.net/~hoffcomp/amalgam.html.
I spoke to Kip who is an attorney without any connection to Quackery. He IS MOST CONVINCING. He knows of fifty others who had fillings removed 3 of which lost all signs of their illness.

Hello Marc:
I read that posting by Kip and couldn't find
anything regarding intestinal health,
although I have heard a few people on these
bulletin boards claiming that removal of
silver fillings improved their health.
I would like to believe it but am wary
of the quackpot factor. Anyone else have
testimonials regarding this?
Also, is it possible to just have your doc
check for mercury in your urine to see if
you have a high level?

Dogwood,
In speaking with Kip, he stated that he had colitis and it had cleared up within a week.
Oher info I have collected since my last post, Germany has banned the sale and manufacture of Amalgams since March 1992.
In Sweden a special commission determined Amalgam was a toxic material that the Cocial Welfare and Health Administration issued an advisory against ist use in dental teramnets of pregnant women.

That's all really interesting.
I question it because I think I had IBS
before my first filling, but I could be
wrong. Gosh, it seems like it would be an
awfully expensive procedure if it didn't
even work. But it would be nice if that
were the solution.

Germany and Sweden just want lower the mercury in the environment. It's not really about a health problem involving amalgam, which does not exist.

A friend of mine became quite ill with intense d. She was hospitalized for over two weeks dignosed with diverticulitis. She had had none of these type symptoms previously. Later in that year she went in for dental work. Dentist decided to repair some bridgework and found an infection underneath the bridge. After this was treated she never had diverticulitus problems again. So perhaps there are some people with minor infections under their fillings and when they are removed also clear their problem????
