i am wondering if anyone combines prescription drugs (bentyl, levbid, paxil etc.) with "natural" remedies such as kava, slippery elm bark and so on. i have noticed many of you have tried lots of stuff, but have wondered about the combinations and possible effects. the bentyl (the generic actually) has helped a bit, but every time i try to go off, i have horrid pain. but with it, i either must stay in motion or i am pretty much a useless lump. i can live with the side effects, but would like to try some other possibilities while weaning off the bentyl. i guess some history might help. i was suffering from extreme pain in abdomen, right side and right hip/thigh, plus gas, bloating and having to pass stool every single time i went to urinate, which was fairly often. bentyl, metamucil, eliminating all lactose, caffeine, soda and chocolate and adding lots (oh joy, another bean dish!) of fiber and water to my diet has helped at least make the bowels more "regular" (usually am only). but the pain still comes and goes and like many of you know, is quite disabling. if anyone can help, thanks, 'cause the depression is creeping in!
